[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Need information on protocols

Hi.

I'd appreciate any references to protocols that allows hosts to
broadcast information about themselves, particularly things like
applications offered and the amount of load on the host (for
load sharing).

I'd be interested in any pointers that you could provide to currently
existing protocols.
