[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] RFC 1174 in the news

ddern@world.std.com (Daniel P Dern) (10/05/90)

The current (October 1990) issue of Data Communications has
a news article on RFC 1174 (not mentioned by [name]), "Federal
Networking Council to Widen Access to the Internet; Agrees to
Drop Requirement that New Members Obtain a Government Sponsor."
by yours truly.

I haven't read through the final printed version carefully, but
suspect there are some inaccuracies due to editing and condensing
and late night phone discussions with the editors .... I'm considering
posting an alternate version. For members of the Internet community
up to date on what's happening, one or two paragraphs would say all;
for others, it seemed to take more thousands of words than I was given...

Also, on the last page, a preview of John Romkey's Internet
Toaster, and other networked appliances/devices (some of which
were discussed here in the past month or two...).

(Don't ask me for copies; call McGraw-Hill. Tnx)
