I have a question regarding acks sent out by SUNs implementation of TCP/IP. If SUNs TCP receives a data packet of 1024 bytes followed by a second data packet of 410 bytes, it sends an ACK packet acknowledging the 1434 bytes immediately. However, if it receives a data packet of 1024 bytes followed by a second data packet of 409 bytes, it delays sending an ACK packet for 200 milli-seconds. The window that it advertises in both cases is 4096 bytes. Under what cases does it decide to delay sending out an ACK packet? Thanx in advance for replies.
