I got a phone call from our personnel office yesterday wanting to know why I had placed an ad for a position available. After a bit of confusion, it would seem that there was an ad placed on net.jobs from somebody here announcing a position available. I certainly didn't place it, and nobody else admits to placing it either. Furthermore, I read net.jobs and never saw the article. So one of several things happened, all of which seem equally unlikely. Maybe some site resent some old news (and I mean old; I think the last ad we placed on net.jobs was about 1-1/2 years ago). Maybe somebody forged an article (for what reason, I can't imagine). Perhaps some bug squashed the top of a net.jobs article onto the signature part of a real article from here (*very* farfetched)? I had posted an article to net.jobs earlier this week complaining about the Nicaragua articles on that group. I supposed it's just barely possible that some people were confused by that and figured we had a position open, but from talking to one person who responded, I don't think that's the case. In any event, PHRI does not currently have any positions open for programmers. If you saw an article on net.jobs that indicated otherwise, I would greatly appreciate getting a copy of that article. If there was anything that we did unknowingly to suggest that we did, please accept my apologies for any inconvenience and confusion. -- Roy Smith, {allegra, philabs}!phri!roy System Administrator, Public Health Research Institute 455 First Avenue, New York, NY 10016
