[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] VAX 11/750 as Internet Gateway?

tkevans@fallst.UUCP (Tim Evans) (12/08/90)

Looking for a low-cost way to connect to the Internet, it occurs
that a spare VAX 11/750 running 4.2BSD might be used as a gateway.
Can anyone comment on whether/how well this might work? I think
I understand that BIND might not work without a lot of recompiling,
but presumably I could run the resolver on another machine in the
local network. What else?

I will summarize if there's interest.

You may want to check into the subnetting issues involved with BSD 4.2.
If I remember right, it's not particularly clean....
