I am looking for a reliable datagram protocol. Any recommendations? I would like something simple like UDP but with reliability. I want to run it on top of IP. Thanks. -- Adnan Yaqub (adnan@sgtech.uucp) Star Gate Technologies 29300 Aurora Rd, Solon, OH, 44139, USA, +1 216 349 1860

If by "reliable datagram protocol" you mean a protocol that is transaction- oriented, preserves record boundaries, has low-overhead association establishment but includes reliability mechanisms, then I recommend that you take a peek at XTP and VMTP. VMTP is written up in a pair of RFCs; XTP was described in a recent issue of Computer Communication Review. - Bob Stine bstine@MCIMail.com

I belive that in most peoples' minds, the phrase "reliable datagram" would be considered an oxymoron. -- Raymond Curci INTERNET: curci@mailer.scri.fsu.edu Systems Engineer UUCP: ...!uunet!mailer.scri.fsu.edu!curci Institute of Molecular Biophysics SPAN: 46453::curci -or- SCRI1::curci Florida State University BITNET: curci@fsu.bitnet
