[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] pcroute

dms@celtech.COM (Dave Stanhope) (12/19/90)

I would like to use 'pcroute' as a gateway for our local ethernet and
appletalk network. I have a copy of NCSA telnet to use on the mac and
both appletalk and tops flashcards for the gateway. I can get the hosts
on the ethernet to see the gateway as well as receive the routing for
the appletalk side. However NCSA telnet running on the mac never gets
to the gateway. I see messages from the gateway saying that it is
doing localtalk arps to 192.84.23.255. The gateway address is
192.84.22.20 on the ethernet and 192.84.23.20 on the appletalk. The
pcroute log says that all starts fine. When I start a ftp on the ether
side to 192.84.23.30 (the address assigned to NCSA) I see the localtalk
arp messages for it but ftp never gets connected.

Any help would be very much appreciated, I suspect a config problem on
either pcroute or NCSA. Do I need a special version of NCSA telnet to
work with pcroute?
