[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] 3Com's 3C501 card and NetBIOS

HARISH@ITIVAX.BITNET (12/19/90)

Folks,

I'm trying to establish if there is a NetBIOS stack that compensates for
3Com's 3C501's deficiencies? I have a zillion of these cards and am
trying to see if I can use existing code to run on them. The code works
just fine with the 3C503s (Etherlink II). The NetBIOS stack need not be
able to talk to a TCP/IP stack (ie RFC 1001/2) but if it does, so much
the better. Any pointers? I've access to 3Com's NBP program (version 1.1)
but my app/code doesn't do too well with that and a 501, but works great
with a 503. Any pointers?

Thanks and regards,

We have a NetBIOS for our TCP/IP. It will run over the 3C501, but I've
no idea if it will compensate for the cards deficiencies. It certainly
won't make the card any faster.
