[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Proxy Arp -- Its Uses and Abuses

Greetings and Salutations,

I have some quick questions about proxy arp and its uses: 

1)  Do most implementations fully implement what is specified in RFC 925, or 
    is a subset of this specification usually implemented (eg. RFC 1027)?

2)  In your experience, how does it work?  That is, does it work 
    well in a tree structured network as well as networks with
    loops?  Are there any limitations to it?

3)  Does anyone have an implementation that is available (for free)?

Any comments will be greatly appreciated.  Please email your opinions, 
objections, I-can-relate-to-that statements, etc. to me and I will 
summarize if there is enough interest.
