Are there any good public domain network simulation applications? An undergraduate student in my lab is thinking of making some simulations of our network but isn't sure where to start. Any information is appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Name: Yoshiyuki "Yoshi" Tanaka | Age: 24 School:Sophia University, Tokyo Japan. | Sex: Male Dept: Electrical & Electronic Engineering | Workstation: Sparcstation1 Lab: Deiters Laboratory. | Project: NFS on a DAT Email: tana@bob.ee.sophia.ac.jp | Hobbies:guitars, synth, ski ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- $B>eCRBg3X(J $BEE5$!&EE;R9)3X2J(J $B!I%/%j%9%^%9$O%[%F%k$8$c$J$/$F(J$B652q$G(J...$B!I(J Robert Deiters $B8&5f<<(J $B#M#2(J $BEDCf4n9T(J tana@bob.ee.sophia.ac.jp

Here at the University of Washington, we've used MIT's network simulator. It has some short comings but we've and a lot of other people have done some workarounds...I just got a copy of CACI (the company that's been on the inside cover of Comm of ACM for a while) NETsim11. Just got it out of it's tar file but so far it looks llike it covers everything...Bad thing is it costs $$$. the MIT sim is on prep.ai.mit.edu I believe... But I can't seem to find the network simulator at that MIT site. Does anyone know the exact name of the simulator and its availability with ftp? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Name: Yoshiyuki "Yoshi" Tanaka | Age: 24 School:Sophia University, Tokyo Japan. | Sex: Male Dept: Electrical & Electronic Engineering | Workstation: Sparcstation1 Lab: Deiters Laboratory. | Project: NFS on a DAT Email: tana@bob.ee.sophia.ac.jp | Hobbies:guitars, synth, ski ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- $B>eCRBg3X(J $BEE5$!&EE;R9)3X2J(J $B!I(J$B%/%j%9%^%9$O%[%F%k$8$c$J$/$F652q$G(J...$B!I(J Robert Deiters $B8&5f<<(J $B#M#2(J $BEDCf4n9T(J tana@bob.ee.sophia.ac.jp

First of all, I am very sorry if I messed up your terminal with a Japanese signature in my previous post. This is a repost. Thanks to all who e-mailed information concerning net simulations. Here's what I've got: 1) LANSF menaik.cs.ualberta.ca [129.128.4.241] /pub/lansf.2.11c.tar.Z 2) NEST columbia.edu [128.59.16.1] /nest 3) REAL icsi-ftp.berkeley.edu [128.32.201.55] pub/tenet/REAL ucbarpa.berkeley.edu [128.32.130.11] pub/REAL/REAL.tar.Z 4) sim allspice.lcs.mit.edu (18.26.0.115) pub/netsim Thanks to: steve@cs.UAlberta.CA (Steve Sutphen) mleisher@nmsu.edu (Mark Leisher) hrp@pecan.cray.com (Hal Peterson) lixia@parc.xerox.com (Lixia Zhang) miller@jeep.dsg.honeywell.com (Michaeljon Miller) New information is still welcome. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Name: Yoshiyuki "Yoshi" Tanaka | Age: 24 School:Sophia University, Tokyo Japan. | Sex: Male Dept: Electrical & Electronic Engineering | Workstation: Sparcstation1 Lab: Deiters Laboratory. | Project: NFS on a DAT Email: tana@bob.ee.sophia.ac.jp | Hobbies:guitars, synth, ski ------------------------------------------------------------------------
