[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] WIN/3B Router Table

slimick@unix.cis.pitt.edu (John C Slimick) (01/21/91)

I am slowly getting WIN/3B to able to talk
on the internet, but all has not gone well.

Tonight's question has to do with the router table.
When I first boot up, and look into the router table
(the one that /usr/etc/route changes) I see lots of
routing information. Within the two minute life of such information
it's still there, but after two minutes the table essentially
empties. The reason that this is significant is that
I tried to modify the WIN/3B startup script to add the
address of my local gateway; the gateway was already
in the table, and thus was rejected. So I wait two minutes
and manually add it to the now almost empty table.

What am I missing here?

Why am I not collecting router information after the initial
two minutes?
