[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] SNMP Network Management

ktaylor@supernet.dallas.haus.com (Kurt Taylor) (01/18/91)

I am sorry if this is a subject that has been beat to death, but...

Could someone please point me in the direction of any information
about SNMP ? Specifically, I am looking for a good general overview.
It can be in any form (Magazine article, FTPable, e-mail, listserv,
etc...).

Thanks in advance,
Kurt Taylor

The BEST book on the subject is The Simple Book by Marshall T. Rose (1990).
Marshall Rose is one of the heavy duty implementers in both the TCP/IP and
OSI worlds. Not only that, but he can write! (An unusual combination)

Highly recommended. Also, if you're in the market for an interesting book
on OSI, he wrote one entitled "The Open Book".

Fully agreed. To add a bit of info: The Simple Book has been published by
Prentice Hall, ISBN 0-13-812611-9
