[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Problems between Wolligong ftp on VMS and ftp on Sun

pdcst@unix.cis.pitt.edu (Patrick Champion) (02/01/91)

Does anyone know of any problems between Wolligong on VMS and Sun's ftp.
I can ftp into the Sun 386 from VaxStation 2100's, Vax VMS with their
own ftp, and Ultrix's ftp, but not from this one vax that is using Wolligong.
I can also ftp from Wolligong VMS into all the above except the afore mentioned
Sun.
What happens is that I can ftp as anonymous between the two, and
I can then do a user to log in after I am in as anonymous. However If
I log in just as a user then I get the user name but no prompt for password.
It just sits there after the carraige return.

Any ideas anyone? I am stumped.

P.S. the Wolligong is version 2 and the Sun ftp is from SunOs 4.0.2

The latest rev of WIN/TCP for VMS is at least 5.1. If you are running
Version 2.x, you will have major problems talking to some people.
Version 2.x was released about 5 years ago.

I think your only hope is to upgrade to a later version of WIN/TCP.

Just a wild guess... are you running over ethernet, and if so, are all your
hosts consistent in their "trailer" declarations of the interfaces? (Check
with ifconfig...)
