[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] UDP

alex@sapphire.idbsu.edu (Alex Feldman) (02/08/91)

I have read RFC 768, but I don't understand the psuedo header, viz:

Is UDP Length in the psuedo header the same as Length in the header?
If so, why do that, and if not, what is the difference?

Is the protocol field always 17? Again, why bother or what else is
it?

Why the source IP address? Help.
