According to the UNIX 5.0 manual, vi(1) will allow a user
to specify a path of a private termcap file provided the
user sets the TERMCAP shell variable to point to that file.

This is useful for testing vi using new or modified terminal
feature definitions, without the need to mess with the public
termcap file that lives in te /etc directory.

My efforts at getting vi(1) to look at my file have, thus fgar,
been in vain. 

Anyone with further info is requested to send same to me.
