[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] best cost/performance solutions for site interconnection

gday@digigw.digital.co.jp (Gordon Day) (02/28/91)

Is SLIP the best way to cheaply connect two small (~20 machines each)
Unix-based lan sites (~30km apart) together? I'm interested in solutions
which address the requirements of low cost for a internet with low
performance requirements (typical applications would be SMTP, ~3
megabytes ftp/week, and occasional Telnet sessions). With this in mind,
the best thing I have heard about was CSLIP. Is it available to all?
If so, where can it be obtained from? Are there better ways?

Cheers,

Gordon Day.
