[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] routed problems on a SPARCstation

MGRJTC@ROSEVC.Rose-Hulman.EDU ("Jerrod T. Carter, Networking Manager") (03/05/91)

We are having trouble with routed on a SPARCstation I running SunOS 4.0.3. We
have the machine set up as a router between two different networks with two
different Ethernet cards. The cards seem to be configured correctly and the
machine passes packets between the networks just fine. However, the problem
comes in when routed trys to send a rip packet but it is getting a message that
says network not reachable. Right now we have another router advertising the
route for it, but we'd like to get it to advertise for itself.

The network numbers are 137.112.4.0 and 137.112.40.0 with a netmask of
255.255.252.0 and broadcast of 137.112.7.255.

Anyone else having these kinds of problems or have any suggestions?
