The performance we're getting from TCP under SunOS 4.1 on a Sparc IPC is somewhat less than optimal. In the book _UNIX Network Programming_, reference is made to Usenet messages in comp.protocols.tcp-ip in 1988 from a V. Jacobson describing improvements to SunOS TCP. I seek education regarding these improvements. Were they ever included in SunOS? What exactly gets tweaked? What if any side effects do they have? The message-id is given in the book's Bibliography, but I haven't been able to find an archive site holding old comp.protocols.tcp-ip messages. Can anyone point me to these messages? [ I hope you'll forgive me if this is a common inquiry, but I don't normally read this newsgroup and I didn't see a FAQ posting within the last 680 messages. ] -- If the From: line says nobody@kodak.com, don't believe it.
