[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] ansi.sys, termcap, and ka9q

jra@lawday.DaytonOh.NCR.COM (John R Ackermann) (03/26/91)

We're using the ka9q (both net and nos versions) software to telnet to
an NCR Tower for terminal sessions.

Including ansi.sys in the config.sys file of the pcs and using the
"pcxt" termcap definition in the Tower results in tolerable performance,
but it's a fairly basic set of terminal services... the pc's arrow keys
don't work, for example.

I'd really like to come up with a combination on both ends of the link
that will allow a smoother terminal interface... working arrow keys,
etc., will make users much happier. Changing to another telnet program
isn't an option... we're running this network over ham radio and need
the other features of the ka9q software.

Can I either run a better termcap/terminfo on the Tower, or a better
ansi emulation on the pc (or both...) to add this functionality?

Thanks in advance.
