[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] Return mail routed to root mailbox, HELP!

cryptkpr@cc.utah.edu (H. CARLTON DOE III) (04/14/91)

I have just installed tcp/ip on my network of AT&T machines running SysV
3.2 and SysV 4.0 and have run into a couple of problems.

	1. I can send mail _to_ users on the SV 4 machines but they
	   can't send mail out.

	2. Users can send and receive mail between the SV 3.2 machines
provided they invoke the mailx command for each message they
want to send. If, in reading their mail, they try to respond
immediately to the message from within mail, their response
is routed to the root mailbox of the machine they're on. In
looking at the headers of the messages that are coming across
the net, it appears the mail is first being received by root
then routed to the addressed user.

Any help in fixing these problems would be appreciated.
