We would like to use Lan Manager on a TCP/IP network that includes IProuters. Due to the fact that Lan Manager is using netbios, this configuration seems to be impossible. There have been some rumours about some "netbios routers" applications on either DOS/OS2 or Unix that can solve this problem. Does anyone know about this ? Brit Jensen, Norsk Data

Thus if your file had: joe silly.foo.com tom 128.127.44.33 and you tried a net use q: \\joe\public when the name query for joe failed on your local net; the netbios would then go off to silly.foo.com via DNS lookups & look there.
