               ROOM: M&C 5158

               ABSTRACT

There are currently four major videotex terminal technolo-
gies in use: Telidon, Prestel, Antiope, and Captain. New
standards have recently been proposed, but until now every
videotex terminal has been designed to function with only
one of the technologies. Starting in September 1982, a
new kind of videotex decoder will be available in Austria.
It converts most existing TVs into videotex terminals,
handles both alpha-mosaic and alpha-geometric graphics,
comes equipped with a full alphabetic keyboard, and can be
converted to the new CEPT or AT&T standard proposal by re-
placing a single prom. The decoder has a wide range of
additional possibilities and will rent for approximately
               $8 per month.

Coffee and refreshment will be served at 3:00 PM.
