I came in on this (neat) discussion a tad late, so forgive me if this question has already been answered. I have heard apocryphal stories about the existence of a "surf server" somewhere on the Left Coast. (UCSD maybe?) The tale describes a wave height/frequency sensor with a line in to a PDP-11 or somesuch, with a finger server on the internet. Can anyone confirm this beastie's existence? Inquiring minds want to know. Bob Stratton strat@gnu.ai.mit.edu c_bstratton@hns.com
