[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] SLIP, MTI and flow control

glenn@grenada.ign.island.COM (Glenn Harden) (04/23/91)

We're running SLIP 4.0 under SunOS 4.0.3 and using (on each end of a leased
line) a UDS modem (DDS/MR) and mux (SM-8A) connected to a 3/280 through a
Systech MTI 1600. It's working, but, echoing of characters when logged on
to the remote machine is rather sporatic which is, one suspects, due to the
absence of flow control between the mux and the MTI board. (Software flow
control is disabled since XON/XOFF can't be sent in IP encapsulated data -
correct me if I'm wrong here.)

Any help greatly appreciated.
