NUMERICAL ANALYSIS SEMINAR - Wednesday, September 22, 1982.

Prof. Alan Genz of University of Kent, England, will
speak on "Efficient Families of Rules for Multiple
               Integrals."

               TIME: 3:30 PM

               ROOM: M&C 3008

               ABSTRACT

Multiple Integrals arise in a variety of applications
in mathematics, statistics, chemistry and physics.
All numerical software for the computation of these
integrals depends on the use of integration rules to
provide local approximations for the integrals. The
purposes of the talk is to describe how efficient
families of multidimensional integration rules can be
derived using Lagrange interpolation. These new
rules are particularly suitable for use in automatic
               adaptive algorithms.
