How effective is 'sorting by datagram size' as a means of preferring interactive traffic over say, ftp? I can imagine this gets keystrokes through fast, but the responses which are typically larger would'nt get preferred treatment. Given that most host implementations dont fill in the TOS field in a usable manner, what's the most simple and effective approach? Looking at the port numbers at the gateway and queuing telnet and rlogin segments before batch style traffic? Should one use a single queue, and sort in segments according to a strategy, or use several queues with different priorities? -michael -- Michael Haberler mah@wu-wien.ac.at, mah@awiwuw11.bitnet University of Economics and Business Administration Augasse 2-6, A-1090 Vienna, Austria Tel: +43 (222) 313-36 x4796 (9-18 CET) Fax 347-555
