[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] AT&T 750CX & SLIP/PPP

Recently, we received 2 AT&T 750CX color X terminals.
Anyway, these terminals are 1024 x 768, color, have an ethernet AUI port,
and an RS-232 port (they also have mouse, keyboard, monitor, etc!).

By default, they use the ethernet port for communications. That's fine
for in the office, where there's coax, but we need to take these
things where there is no network. Supposedly, they can be set up
to run SLIP (according to the glossy info sheets). After playing with
the terminal a bit, it seems like it should do both SLIP & PPP, which
is great. There is a setup window where you can say the serial port
can either be unused, run as a dumb 'modem window', or can run SLIP/PPP.

Running as a dump 'modem window' works just fine -- one can talk with a
host or with the modem, and act like a vt100 terminal.
Of course, it's just plain ASCII at this point.

Selecting the SLIP/PPP option on the setup window doesn't seem to do anything.
After rebooting the terminal, just the 'services' window comes up.

How can you talk to the modem to initiate a call, or login in to startup
SLIP or PPP on the remote host?

e.g.: How do you run SLIP or PPP on the AT&T 750CX terminal?
