Hi, netlanders! Forgive me if this is the inappropriate list, but are there any SMTP packages for PCs with NCSA Telnet or another PD TCP/IP packages? Currently, we have NCSA Telnet and FTP Software's PC/TCP. The PC/TCP offers the ability to send and receive mail at the PC, which is not possible for NCSA Telnet with 2.2 or 2.3b10 versions. The NCSA users must telnet into a host which supports mail to send and receive mail. From a strictly human standpoint, the sentiment may be simplified by the comment "If they can do it, I want to, too!". Technically, it is my understanding that NCSA for DOS (as opposed to Apple and whatever else) does not support any mail capabilities. If this is a "given", and NCSA has no plans in the near-future to offer SMTP options, the next question becomes "How can users of NCSA send and receive mail and do so independent of logging into another host?" I suspect somewhere in the land of Internet exists a PD SMTP package which will work with NCSA Telnet, or perhaps some other PD TCP/IP package. I am asking for pointers, redirects, or a simple "No such package exists." NCSA Telnet users, while quite loyal to their package, will consider another PD package which will provide VT100 emulation and Tektronix 4014 emulation as well. The need for 4014 is being replaced by a need for 3270 emulation, so a package which would offer both is preferable. The need to work on the 3c501, 3c503, and WD80003E is a must, and NDIS drivers will be very welcome. I would appreciate whatever insights, recommendations, or warnings anyone is willing to give. In the event this is deemed to be of interest to others, the list as a return address is fine with me. Thanks. Kathy Rinehart@AEDC-VAX.AF.MIL
