[comp.protocols.tcp-ip] TTL problems

bergum@SRC.Honeywell.COM (David Bergum) (06/12/91)

ATT WIN/TCP 3.2 running on 3B2 SYSV 3.2.3 has a wired in TTL of 15 for IP
packets. This doesn't get you anywhere worth going to these days. Anyone
kknow of a fix for this limitation?

This parameter can be changed in the kernel.

In the file /etc/master.d/ip: change the IP_TTL parameter.
I changed it from 0x0f to 0x2f which seems to work fine.
Then rebuild the IP and KERNEL drivers and reboot /etc/system for the change
to take effect (let me know if you need more details).
