     ABSTRACT

deBoor and Golub have shown how a Jacobean matrix A may
be constructed from two spectra, the eigenvalues of A
and of the matrix B obtained by deleting the last row
and column of A . The reconstruction, which relies on
the 3-term recurrence relation satisfied by sequences
of orthogonal polynomials, is found to be numerically
     very stable.
