I just started playing with a Sun 3/260, running News 1.0. Under News, I ran the /usr/demo/suncube in one suntools window and /usr/demo/stringart in another suntools window. To my surprise and delight, the color map of the stringart was modified by the changing colormap of suncube! This makes a pretty display... It seems that they share a common colormap in the NeWS server, and that suncube only modifies part of the map. I looked up color in the PostScript manual and discovered that there is no command to get at the color map directly and change it. So how do these demos do this? How can I play with the colormap using standard PostScript? Tom Schneider National Cancer Institute Laboratory of Mathematical Biology Frederick, Maryland toms@ncifcrf.gov
