Termcap entries for nterm are distributed with NeWS 1.1. The two entries (nterm and nterms) are missing Unix V6-style two char names at the beginning of the first line. 'Tset -' returns the *second* terminal name string it finds. For the Sun-distributed nterm entries they are the multiword names. The termcap(5) man page states: The first entry for each terminal gives the names which are known for the terminal, separated by `|' characters. The first name is always 2 characters long and is used by older version 6 systems which store the terminal type in a 16 bit word in a systemwide data base. The second name given is the most common abbreviation for the terminal, and the last name given should be a long name fully identifying the terminal. I added two-character "Nt" and "Nu" entries to the front of the nterm and nterms entries. I think Bill Joy needs to have a talk with those young whippersnappers in the NeWSroom, who think they know everything about Unix after just a few years... :-) -- Skip Montanaro (montanaro@sprite.steinmetz.ge.com, montanaro@ge-crd.arpa)
