[comp.windows.news] NeWS clients on VMS?

hydrovax@nmtsun.nmt.edu (M. Warner Losh) (07/28/88)

Has anybody out there ported the $NEWSHOME/clientsrc to VMS with
Wollongong's TCP/IP implementation (I'd be very happy with CMU's,
since I assume they are about the same from the user interface point
of view). Of particular interest is the PSH program, with all of the
libraries that it takes to get it going.

What I'm trying to do is to use a VAXstation II as a "compute-server"
and a SUN 3/60 as a "graphics-server". It would be nice to run a
program on the VAX and have the output come out on the SUN running
NeWS. I've been trying to port the stuff, but it is slow going due to
the "portable" nature of the clientsrc stuff.

If no-one has done this yet, does anyone know if I can distribute it
after I have completed porting? Or is this like trying to distribute
your hacked version of AT&T source code .....
