Dr. W.M. Gentleman of National Research Council of Ca-
nada will speak on ``Using Harmony.''

     TIME: 3:30 PM

     ROOM: MC 5158

     ABSTRACT

The Harmony operating system, and the Chorus multipro-
cessor on which it runs, provide an environment for us-
ing parallel computation in robotics and other embedded
realtime situations. Beyond that, they provide an
inexpensive and friendly environment to experiment with
writing parallel programs for other application
domains. Harmony is an evolution of Thoth, the unipro-
cessor realtime operating system developed earlier at
     the University of Waterloo.

This talk will describe the user's view of programming
with Harmony, including his view of the Chorus
hardware. It will comment on experience to date, and
     intended directions for the future.
