``Semi Implicit Runge Kutta Methods, Nonlinear Stabili-
ty and Implementation. Part 1.''

ABSTRACT

The design of nonlinearly stable SDIRK-methods for
stiff systems of ODE's with imbedded local error esti-
mators is discussed. The stability properties and ef-
ficiency considerations are important design features.
Special interpolation formulae for output purposes and
for use as predictors for the modified Newton processes
are presented.

This lecture is followed by a Part 2 where the imple-
mentation of the methods will be discussed. This will
take place on February 2 as the second talk in this
series.
