I have some questions on NeWS (beta test) running on a Sparc-station. I run with the environment variable X11ONLY set to turn off all the Open Windows "features." Right now I run xnews in background, sleep, then run the X startup script. Is there any way to run scripts or programs (NOT just postscript) from the .user.ps file? The free X program, xbgsun, is supposed to write on the background, but under News, it seems that what xbgsun writes gets overwritten, and the default blue background remains. Is there an ALT key on the SPARC1? Neither ALT nor <DIAMOND-SHAPE> seems to do the trick, at least as far as X11 is concerned. Most important to me: I have a modified version of twm called dwim (posted to comp.sources.x a while ago) that uses the combination CTRL-<NUMBER KEY> to switch windows mouselessly. On the Sparc-Station, this combination is not read by X. Please help; respond to davidra@helios.tn.cornell.edu
