Prof. L. Schumaker of Texas A&M University will speak
on ``Degree Raising for Splines and Applications to
Computer-Aided Design.''
TIME: 3:30 PM
ROOM: MC 6007 (Please Note)
ABSTRACT
In this talk we discuss recent results on raising the
degree of b-spline expansions. The main result is a
stable recurrence formula for computing the new coeffi-
cients of a spline whose degree has been raised. It
depends on certain properties of discrete B-splines.
Specific algorithms will also be discussed, as well as
applications to curve and surface design by the Bezier
method.
