Dr. Richard Weinberg of Fifth Generation Graphics, Los Angeles, California, will speak on ``Supercomputers and Computer Graphics''. TIME: 2:30 PM ROOM: MC 6007 ABSTRACT Supercomputers are the fastest general purpose comput- ers available, and provide numerical computation speeds in excess of 100 million floating point operations per second. To achieve these speeds, programs must be structured to take advantage of the vector architecture of the machine. Supercomputers are now being used in various computer graphics applications, including ani- mation. A description of the Cray-1 and Cray-XMP supercomputers and their use in computer graphics will be presented. March 2, 1984
