The X/NeWS server (OpenWindows) has many scalable fonts. If you ask for a font list, you get back the base name of the font, say zapfchancery- mediumitalic. How do you get a scaled rendition of that font from X applications? What's the font name (as far as X is concerned) for a 37-point zapfchancery-mediumitalic font? Thx, -- Skip (montanaro@crdgw1.ge.com)

ZapfChancery-MediumItalic-37 In general, <PostScript font name>-<size> seems to work great. -- Amanda Walker Visix Software Inc.
