Steve Heffner of Pennington Systems in Pennington, New Jersey, routinely translates a number of minicomputer assembly languages into C. We are developing a hamster that translates a MS-DOS .EXE file into C. The result of these exercises isn't particularly pretty but it is C and it is functionally equivalent to the input and it does port and that is the main goal. Whether it is or is not easier to understand that the input is very problematic. (In the latter case, this means just a raw disassembly.)
