From: uunet!gatech.edu!emory!arnold (Arnold D. Robbins {EUCC}) Does anyone happen to know if awk is included in the command level Posix standard? In particular, if awk is included, is it based on V7 awk, or the new awk in book by Aho, Kernighan, and Weinberger? I would really hope it's based on the new book, since there is significant additional functionality in that version. The GNU people are working on making GNU Awk compatible with the new awk, and that should be available for beta testing Real Soon Now, so the world won't be constrained to just AT&T's awk. If any one knows, I'd like to hear from you. As a side issue, is the command level draft available in machine readable form?
