9"Computer Experiences as an Aid in Learning Mathematics Concepts"

                          Abstract

It is generally agreed that many undergraduate stu-
dents, even after acquiring the techniques of a mathematical
subject, do not understand the abstract concepts. In this
paper, the reasons for the difficulty are discussed theoret-
ically, leading to suggestions of a new type for computer
experiences which might assist in learning such concepts.
Experiments are described in which such experiences were
used in Clarkson undergraduate courses, and the effect
tested.
