We're about to release the next version of Unix Mumps, which has the ability to use a database server/cache. While we have the code in place to handle the client/server stuff for shared memory (for SysV) and IP (for 4.[23]), I seem to recall there being several differences between {TCP,UDP}/IP on 4.[23]BSD and on the Masscomp. Is this still true? Are there any other protocols available from Masscomp (like reliable datagrams)? Hokey [If you are running RTU 3.0 or greater with SP-70 Version 2 or greater, there are no significant differences. The only major one I can think of is how the MASSCOMP inet daemon spawns server processes. Another one is the lack of syslog support on the MASSCOMP. However, at the protocol programming interface level, all the 4.2 interface seems to be supported. The 4.3 additions are not supported as yet. -- sob]
