Before I go writing my own versions...has anybody written or seen routines (or programs) to set and read the time using a Hayes Chronograph from a Masscomp? We have a couple Hayes clocks sitting around and when we go to sea with our 535 (ne 5500) we need a way to keep the time accurately between boots. (We have to shut down several times a day when the ship goes on or off shore power or synchronizes its motor-generators and need to keep the time sync'ed with previous events.) What I plan is to use a tty port but may be able to use an sl02 (if we have one spare). If nobody has one or more routines written I will do it and send them to the MUS Software Library. -- Bob Amen (amen@quequeg.UUCP) Chesapeake Bay Institute/Johns Hopkins University (+1 301 338-6329)

First, a cheap shot about "going to sea". If your engineer(s) switch from shore power to ship power often enought to be a problem, are you really going to SEA? :-) More importantly, I am about to embark on the time problem but am using "clocks" called "true-time" which are actually radio recievers that get NBS time from GOES sattelites. Any thoughts, comments, suggestions, or abuse will stimulate this group, and might help someone.
