[comp.sys.masscomp] two software questions

Two software puzzles on a Masscomp 5600 RTU 4.0a:

1)	Is it possible to keep an "open" to an HPSM tty
port from blocking indefinitely if there is no physical
connection to the port? Setting O_NDELAY doesn't do the
job. The manual says setting O_NDELAY causes a return
w/o waiting for carrier. Is this a bug?

2)	I recently tried to port a graphics program to
Masscomp that uses the standard Unix plotting library
(plot or libplot) to generate a metafile that can then
be piped to various devices (plot and graph would make
use of this library). Unfortunately, it appears
that Masscomp has replaced this library with sp-45 which
not only fails to have identical calls to the standard
library, but in addition are so high level that the calls
cannot be replaced with similar sp-45 calls. I am
especially interested in:
	openpl()
	erase()
	space()
	label()
	linemod()
	cont()		these two are the
	move()		most important.

Is anyone aware of the existence of the standard library for
Masscomp and is it available?
