[comp.sys.apollo] Apollo login?

dsd@hpsadla.HP (Donald St. Denis (x4489)) (09/04/87)

Hi,

I've just purchased an Apollo DN-550. I think that it has Sys 3 on the
hard drive. I've managed to get it into MD (debugger) then to AEGIS,
and using SH I can get it to the login prompt. What now?

I've tried a few choces like root, guest, even date, but all are passworded.
Anyone know how I can get logged in? Even in a non-root account I can
probably use a security hole or two to get to root, but how can I even get
logged in?

Is there some way to use MD/AEGIS to edit files on the hard-drive so I could
unpassword root?

I've only got a bare minimum of manuals, nothing on the Unix implementation
or the hardware. Actually the manuals seem to be for display programming.

I'm booting from a terminal connected to port 1.

Email any suggestions:

Thanks,

Don.

This is not an answer to your question, but a query.
How do you get access to the MD (mnemonic debugger) via an SIO port?

Try logging in as:

user

or

sys.admin

If those fail, try to network it to another node and twiddle from there.

				Good luck
