Here's a question for you TCP/IP hackers. We are using the AEGIS TCP 3.0 servers on our Apollo ring which is a subnet (18.138) of the main MIT campus network. We are not, however connected directly into the main campus net. Instead, our Apollo gateway is connected to the departmental ethernet (subnet 18.83) which is in turn connected to the main campus net. The gateway between the departmental ethernet and the main campus net is *very* intelligent, if I can get a packet to it, the machine can send it almost anywhere in the nation. Now here's the real question: how do I tell the apollo's (which are using the NIC format host tables) that the departmental gateway is the gateway to *everywhere*? On a straight BSD 4.2 machine, I can give the command 'route add default dept-gw 1', which will cause all packets for which routing is not explicitly known to be sent to the gateway for forwarding. Is there a similar mechanism that can be used on the AEGIS TCP/IP servers? -- David Krowitz mit-erl!mit-kermit!krowitz@eddie.mit.edu mit-erl!mit-kermit!krowitz@mit-eddie.arpa krowitz@mit-mc.arpa (in order of decreasing preference)
