peer@prle1.UUCP (Tom van Peer) (09/28/87)

I've been asked to post this for a colleague of mine, who isn't able to
post news to the net. You can send your replies to him though.

At the Eindhoven University of Technology EMACS has been ported
to the HP9000/500 series computers and
Apollo workstations. The port has been used for about a year and has
proven itself very reliable and complete. Anyone interested should
send an appropriate tape to the address below.

Some facts about this port are:

    . O.S.: HP-UX 5.11 (HP9000/500)
             DOMAIN IX 9.5 (Apollo)

    . Size: 1.3MB C Source
             700KB Lisp
             1MB Documentation

    . Emacs: 17.49

Features (added/modified):

. The Lisp interpreter/compiler was rewritten to be almost :-)
      Common Lisp compatible.

. An optimizer for the byte compiler has been written. Also
a disassembler is included for debugging.

Media:

The following media can be handled:

. HP-UX Streamer tape, UNIX cpio format
      . 9-Track 1600 bpi, UNIX tar format
      . Apollo Streamer tape

Availability:

This EMACS port is available from the author at the address below.
Send an appropriate tape with return address and a small fee for
    return postage.

The current ADUS library tape set contains GNU Emacs
version 18.47 a somewhat newer version than the
one which was just offered. This is the problem
(blessing ?) with public domain software ... it is
hard to keep all the different changes integrated
into a single package.
