Is it possible to hook up a dumb terminal to an Apollo and run a shell in it? I am not talking about hooking Macs and PC's to the network. We have lots of users wanting machines and a limited number of machines. I unlike probably anyone else who uses the Apollo would prefer good 'ol EMACS running on some kind of terminal to the display manager as it stands now. The only reservation I have in saying that is that alot of the software(like the debugger) loses a lot of its functionality without the dm. I do not mean to start a war about the display manager, I just wanted to explain my motivation for asking. You can certainly do this over the SIO line. Just run the SIOLOGIN process on an Apollo node, and then connect the terminal to the SIO line and voila... -- Ashwin.

I don't know if this happens on SIO lines, but when I telnet/rlogin to an Apollo running SR9.2.x+Domain/IX and (after logging in) I try "/com/login", it asks for the username, I type it in, then the silly thing says something like "Not just any password!" and then proceeds to ECHO the password as I type it in!
