Speaking personally, I don't think I'll trust standards from either AT&T/Sun OR OSF. AT&T UNIX was created back in the good old days before the breakup. THat meant that they had plenty of bucks to do research for the good of society instead of the company. Many breakthroughs were made, but the world thought that communications should be private enterprise. Now AT&T Bell Labs must make money also, instead of just making something that's good. Seems to me that standards have origins in big research universities like Berklee and MIT. Once you try to make a standard and a buck at the same time, things get the way they are. Scott Ferguson
